Boldsign

BoldSign delivers eSignature solutions, letting organizations create, send, and manage legally binding documents through streamlined digital signing workflows

Verdict

Boldsign is an e-signature platform that lets teams send, track, and manage document signing workflows. When you @mention Boldsign in a Space, your AI can draft signature requests, check document status, retrieve signed copies, and pull audit trails without leaving the conversation. Marketing and sales teams use it to speed up contract turnaround; ops teams use it to automate onboarding paperwork. Because it uses OAuth, you'll grant read and write access to your Boldsign account — the AI can create requests but won't delete documents or change account settings.

Common use cases

  • Send contracts for signature from chat
  • Check which agreements are still pending
  • Retrieve signed documents for record-keeping
  • Pull audit logs for compliance reviews
  • Draft signature requests using templates

Setup

Setup guide

  1. 11. In Switchy, open your workspace settings and navigate to the Integrations tab. 2. Find Boldsign in the MCP directory and click Connect. 3. You'll be redirected to Boldsign's authorization page — log in with your Boldsign credentials. 4. Review the requested scopes (typically document read, document write, and template access) and click Authorize. 5. Switchy confirms the connection and returns you to the integrations page. 6. Open any Space and type '@Boldsign check the status of my pending contracts' to test — the AI should query your Boldsign account and return a summary. 7. If you see an error, revisit the integrations page to confirm the OAuth token is active and hasn't expired.

What teammates see: by default, memories from Boldsign are scoped to the Space (PROJECT visibility) - you can mark any memory PRIVATE or share it ORG-wide.

Prompt

@boldsign create a signature request for the 'Vendor Agreement Q1.pdf' file in our Space, send it to alex@vendor.com and maria@vendor.com with a 7-day deadline

Output

Signature request created successfully. Document 'Vendor Agreement Q1.pdf' has been uploaded to BoldSign and sent to 2 recipients: alex@vendor.com (Signer 1) and maria@vendor.com (Signer 2). Signing deadline set for March 12, 2024. Each recipient will receive an email with a secure signing link. You'll get notifications when each person signs or if the deadline passes. Document ID: DOC-2024-03-789 is now trackable in your BoldSign dashboard.

Notes

This example requires OAuth scope for document creation and sending. BoldSign will charge against your account's envelope quota. The MCP uploads the file from the Space's context, so ensure the PDF is already attached or referenced in the conversation. Recipients must have valid email addresses; BoldSign handles delivery and reminders independently.

Prompt

@boldsign check the status of document 'Partnership MOU' sent last month — has everyone signed yet?

Output

Document 'Partnership MOU' (sent February 8, 2024) shows 3 of 4 signers completed. Signed: Jordan Kim (Feb 9), Sam Patel (Feb 10), Taylor Chen (Feb 15). Pending: Casey Morgan (casey@partner.co) — last reminder sent February 28, no response yet. Document is still active with a March 15 deadline. You can send a manual reminder or extend the deadline if needed. Average signing time for completed signers was 2.3 days.

Notes

Status checks require read access to sent documents. BoldSign tracks granular signer activity (views, downloads, completions), but this example shows a high-level summary. If you manage hundreds of documents, add date filters or recipient email to narrow results. The MCP cannot force a signature or bypass the vendor's audit trail — it only reports what BoldSign's API exposes.

Prompt

@boldsign review all completed agreements from Q4 2023 and draft a summary of signing turnaround times and any documents that expired unsigned

Output

Reviewed 47 completed documents from Q4 2023 (October–December). Average signing turnaround: 4.2 days from send to final signature. Fastest: 'Employee Offer Letter - Dec batch' (1.1 days average across 12 signers). Slowest: 'Annual Vendor Renewal - Acme Corp' (18 days, required 5 signers). Expired unsigned: 3 documents — 'Freelance Contract - Nov' (1 signer never responded), 'Partnership Amendment - Oct' (2 of 3 signed, third signer unresponsive), 'Consulting SOW - Dec' (sender canceled before completion). Recommendation: For multi-signer workflows, consider staggered deadlines or escalation reminders after day 7.

Notes

This synthesis example combines BoldSign's reporting data with the AI's analytical reasoning. Requires read access to historical documents and metadata (send dates, completion dates, signer counts). BoldSign's API may paginate large result sets, so the MCP handles that behind the scenes. The 'recommendation' is AI-generated interpretation, not a BoldSign feature — useful for turning raw data into actionable insight.

Use-case deep-dives

Contract approval in remote sales teams

When Boldsign fits a distributed deal-closing workflow

A 6-person sales team closing 15-20 deals a month needs signatures from prospects, legal, and finance without email ping-pong. Boldsign handles the OAuth handshake once, then any team member can trigger signature requests from Switchy without logging into a separate portal. The win is speed: you draft the SOW in Switchy, send it for signature, and track status in the same thread where you're coordinating with your AE and legal. The threshold is volume—if you're closing 50+ deals a month, you'll want deeper analytics than a general-purpose MCP exposes, and you should wire Boldsign's API directly into your CRM. For small sales teams that live in Switchy and hate tool-switching, this MCP keeps deal velocity high.

Onboarding paperwork for early-stage startups

Why this MCP works for new-hire document collection

A 12-person startup hiring 3-4 people a quarter needs offer letters, NDAs, and I-9s signed without a dedicated HR system. Boldsign's OAuth setup means the founder or office manager authenticates once, and any hiring manager can send signature requests from the same Switchy workspace where they're tracking candidate pipelines. The advantage is consolidation: you don't need a separate e-signature account until you're onboarding at scale. The trade-off is template management—if you're customizing 10+ document types with conditional fields, Boldsign's native UI will be faster than orchestrating it through an MCP. For early-stage teams that want one workspace for hiring coordination and document execution, this MCP closes the loop.

Vendor agreement tracking for operations teams

When Boldsign MCP simplifies procurement workflows

A 5-person operations team managing 30 vendor relationships needs MSAs, SOWs, and amendments signed and tracked without a procurement suite. Boldsign's OAuth integration lets the ops lead authenticate once, then any team member can send agreements for signature and check status from the Switchy thread where they're negotiating terms with the vendor. The payoff is visibility: everyone sees signature progress in the same workspace where they're discussing pricing and delivery dates, so nothing stalls waiting for a status update. The boundary is audit requirements—if you need tamper-proof logs or compliance certifications, you'll want Boldsign's enterprise tier and direct API access, not an MCP wrapper. For small ops teams that want vendor paperwork to move as fast as their Slack threads, this MCP keeps deals from bottlenecking.

Frequently asked

What does the Boldsign MCP do in Switchy?

It connects your Boldsign e-signature account to Switchy so AI agents can read document status, retrieve signing links, and check template details without leaving the workspace. Since tools aren't fully captured yet, expect basic read operations like listing documents and checking signer progress. You won't send documents for signature directly through the MCP — use Boldsign's UI for that.

Do I need admin access to connect Boldsign via OAuth?

You need a Boldsign account with API access enabled, which typically requires an admin or account owner role. The OAuth flow will ask for permissions to read your documents and templates. If your Boldsign plan restricts API usage to certain tiers, check with your account admin before connecting.

Can the Boldsign MCP send documents out for signature?

Not yet. The current integration focuses on read operations — checking document status, pulling signer details, and retrieving template info. If you need to initiate new signature requests, use Boldsign's web app or their direct API. The MCP is for monitoring and retrieval, not document creation.

Why use this instead of just logging into Boldsign?

You use it when you want AI agents to answer questions like "which contracts are still pending?" or "what's the status of the Smith agreement?" without context-switching. The MCP pulls live data into Switchy's workspace, so your team can query signature status in natural language alongside other tools. For one-off checks, Boldsign's dashboard is faster.

Who on the team should connect the Boldsign MCP?

Whoever owns your Boldsign account and has OAuth permissions. Usually that's your operations lead or contract admin. Once connected, any Switchy workspace member can query the data through AI agents, but only the connector's Boldsign permissions apply. If your team needs different access levels, you'll need separate connections or role management in Boldsign first.
