Klaviyo MCP

Klaviyo MCP lets authorized agents analyze and manage marketing data and workflows across accounts, campaigns, catalogs, events, flows, profiles, segments, subscriptions, templates, and related Klaviyo resources.

Verdict

The Klaviyo MCP connects your marketing automation platform to Switchy, letting your team query campaign performance, segment data, and customer profiles without leaving the workspace. Marketing ops can pull send metrics mid-standup, product managers can check lifecycle cohorts during planning, and support can verify a customer's email journey in seconds. Because Klaviyo's API is read-heavy by design, expect to retrieve data more often than you create campaigns—most teams use this for reporting and customer context, not campaign authoring.

Common use cases

  • Pull campaign open rates during standup
  • Check customer lifecycle stage before outreach
  • Compare segment sizes across product launches
  • Verify email delivery status for support tickets
  • Export cohort metrics for quarterly reviews

Setup

Setup guide

  1. 11. Open your Switchy workspace and navigate to Settings > Integrations > Browse MCP Servers. 2. Search for Klaviyo MCP and click Connect. 3. You'll be redirected to Klaviyo's OAuth consent screen—log in with an account that has API access enabled. 4. Grant read permissions for profiles, metrics, campaigns, and segments (write scopes are optional unless you plan to update profiles). 5. After authorizing, Switchy redirects you back and confirms the connection is live. 6. Open any Project and type '@Klaviyo' followed by a question like 'show me open rates for last week's campaign' to test the integration. 7. If the MCP responds with data, you're ready—if it errors, revisit Settings > Integrations to check token status.

What teammates see: by default, memories from Klaviyo MCP are scoped to the Project (PROJECT visibility) - you can mark any memory PRIVATE or share it ORG-wide.

Starter prompts

Campaign Performance Snapshot

@Klaviyo show me the open rate, click rate, and total recipients for all campaigns sent in the last 14 days, sorted by send date.

Customer Profile Lookup

@Klaviyo find the profile for email address customer@example.com and list their last five interactions with our emails.

Segment Size Check

@Klaviyo list all active segments in our account and show the current member count for each one.

Flow Performance Review

@Klaviyo get the total revenue, conversion rate, and recipient count for each active flow over the past 30 days.

Deliverability Audit

@Klaviyo show me the bounce rate and unsubscribe rate for every campaign sent this month, highlighting any above 2%.

Example outputs

Illustrative - representative of the model's voice and quality, not literal recordings.

Prompt

@klaviyo show me the last 50 subscribers who joined our newsletter in the past week, grouped by signup source

Output

Retrieved 47 subscribers added between Jan 15-22, 2025. Breakdown: 23 from homepage widget, 18 from blog footer form, 6 from checkout opt-in. Top properties captured: email, first_name, utm_source. All profiles are in the 'Newsletter' list with 'subscribed' consent status. No suppressed or bounced addresses in this cohort.

Notes

This example assumes the OAuth token grants read access to profiles and lists. Klaviyo's API paginates results; the MCP likely fetches one page unless configured otherwise. Useful for auditing recent growth, but won't show historical trends beyond the query window.

Prompt

@klaviyo create a new segment called 'High-Value Lapsed' for customers who spent over $500 but haven't opened an email in 90 days

Output

Segment 'High-Value Lapsed' created with ID seg_abc123. Definition: profile.total_spent > 500 AND last_email_open < 90 days ago. Currently matches 142 profiles. Segment is dynamic and will update as customer behavior changes. You can now target this segment in campaigns or flows.

Notes

Requires write access to segments via OAuth. The MCP translates natural language into Klaviyo's segment condition syntax, but complex logic (nested AND/OR, custom properties) may need manual refinement in the Klaviyo UI. Segment creation is immediate; no undo via MCP.

Prompt

@klaviyo analyze our last 5 campaigns and tell me which subject lines drove the highest open rates for mobile users

Output

Analyzed campaigns sent Jan 1-22, 2025. Mobile open rates: 'Flash Sale Ends Tonight' (34.2%), 'Your Cart Misses You' (29.8%), 'New Arrivals Just Dropped' (27.1%), 'Exclusive: Early Access' (24.5%), 'Thanks for Being Awesome' (22.3%). Urgency-driven subject lines outperformed gratitude messaging by 11.9 percentage points on mobile. Desktop rates showed less variance.

Notes

This synthesis example combines campaign metrics retrieval with AI-driven pattern recognition. The MCP fetches raw stats; the AI interprets trends. Accuracy depends on Klaviyo's device attribution (some clients misreport). Use this for hypothesis generation, not final reporting—export full data for stakeholder decks.

Use-case deep-dives

Growth team A/B test analysis

Klaviyo MCP for comparing email variant performance

A 4-person growth team runs split tests on welcome emails, testing subject lines and CTA copy. After each test, they need to compare open rates, click-through rates, and conversion events across variants. The Klaviyo MCP works if you're running 2+ A/B tests a month and need to pull results into a shared workspace for discussion. OAuth2 keeps test data accessible without sharing a single login. The catch: if you're only testing once a quarter, or if your tests are simple enough that Klaviyo's built-in reports answer your questions, the MCP adds friction you don't need. But if you're layering Klaviyo results with product analytics or customer data from other tools—say, matching email clicks to in-app behavior—having Klaviyo queryable in Switchy makes the cross-tool analysis faster. Worth it once testing becomes a weekly habit.

Frequently asked

What does the Klaviyo MCP do in Switchy?

It connects your Klaviyo account to Switchy's AI workspace so your team can query customer data, segment information, and campaign metrics through natural language. Your AI agents can pull subscriber lists, check email performance, and reference customer profiles without switching tabs. The MCP uses OAuth2, so Klaviyo credentials stay secure and you control which account data Switchy can access.

Do I need admin access to connect Klaviyo?

Yes, you'll need account owner or admin permissions in Klaviyo to complete the OAuth2 flow. Klaviyo's API access is tied to account-level permissions, not individual user roles. If you're a contributor or analyst in Klaviyo, ask your admin to connect the integration. Once connected, your whole Switchy workspace can reference the data within the scopes you approved during setup.

Can the Klaviyo MCP send emails or trigger campaigns?

Not yet. The current MCP focuses on read access — querying subscriber data, segment details, and campaign performance. It won't create flows, send one-off emails, or modify customer profiles. If you need to automate sends, use Klaviyo's native API or Zapier. The MCP is for pulling context into AI conversations, not replacing your marketing automation stack.

How is this different from using Klaviyo's dashboard directly?

The MCP lets your team ask questions in plain English instead of clicking through Klaviyo's interface. Instead of exporting a CSV to check segment overlap or opening five tabs to compare campaign stats, you ask Switchy and the AI queries Klaviyo in real time. It's faster for ad-hoc analysis and keeps your team in one workspace, but you'll still use Klaviyo's dashboard for campaign creation and design work.

Who on the team should connect the Klaviyo integration?

Your marketing ops lead or whoever owns Klaviyo admin access. They'll authenticate once via OAuth2, and the connection persists for your entire Switchy workspace. After that, any team member in Switchy can query Klaviyo data through AI agents, subject to the scopes approved during setup. The connection doesn't count against Klaviyo's user seat limits or Switchy's plan caps.
